Tub's Hill, Coeur d'Alene Lake

Directions

Find the boat launch near the Coeur d'Alene Resort, and then just follow the lake toward the hill with the trees on it (Tubb's Hill) till you see the location in the picture.

Description

A typical dive in this location begins in the marina. From the marina, you follow the shoreline along Tubb's Hill till you decide to head back.

In the marina there is a little patch of weeds that bluegill, yellow perch, and small largemouth bass like to hangout in, and during the night, you can on occasion see a northern pike. However, the water in the marina is shallow, so watch out for boats. From the marina there is a set of cables that follow the shoreline and can be useful for navigation.

Once you are out of the marina you will come to a series of walls going deeper. The lake is deep, and you can follow the walls at a depth that fits your liking. There are lots of large logs, cans, and other rubbish. Along the rocky walls smallmouth bass are common, and they often enjoy follow divers.

Visibility is usually good for fresh water, but a light is useful if going below 40 feet.
