Seaweed

Seaweeds are marine benthic algae that are multicellular. This means that they don't include fresh water plants (see aquatic plants) like water lilies, seagrasses, or microscopic algae.

They are commonly divided into three groups: brown (Phaeophyta), red (Rhodophyta) and green algae (Chlorophyta). The classification is based on their pigment color.
